EDUCATION NEWS

  • Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont is offering a three-day tech training program for Huntersville residents to build digital skills needed for job searches and resume building; participants receive expert guidance (with some getting a free Dell laptop) to boost career opportunities.  WSOCTV.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A $1 million fund will support construction of a 10-ft multiuse path along Catawba Avenue as part of the Emerald Necklace. Meanwhile, Bailey Road Park turf installation has been delayed by winter weather and advisory boards from Cornelius, Davidson and Huntersville plan to meet June 15 to discuss regional partnerships.  Cornelius Today

HEALTH NEWS

  • Mecklenburg County Public Health will host a free Live Well Meck tour that reviews community health progress and gathers input for the 2026 improvement plan. The Huntersville event is on March 25 (5:30-7 p.m.) at David B. Waymer Recreation Center.  Mecklenburg County News
  • Juliana Lozano, a survivor, shares her plan to exit abusive relationships by seeking trusted help as the Greater Charlotte Hope Line offers free 24/7 support and safety planning. The service advises survivors to prepare an emergency bag with essentials (money, keys, documents) for quick escape.  WSOCTV.com
  • Over the weekend, Mecklenburg County Public Health and Central Piedmont Community College Dental Hygiene Program provided free dental and health services (including cleanings, exams, fluoride treatments and MMR vaccinations) to nearly 400 residents as part of Give Kids a Smile Day (a national initiative by the American Dental Association).  Mecklenburg County News
  • A Charlotte doctor said patients hesitate to vaccinate due to fears about foreign substances and misleading social media posts. Dr. Ahmed noted that local clinics continue walk-in MMR vaccinations amid nine measles alerts in the metro area.  WBTV
