- ➤ The latest U.S. Drought Monitor report from Thursday, Mar. 5 showed that while parts of South Carolina improved, the Charlotte metro area remained largely unchanged despite recent rain. The region still needs 7 to 10 inches of rainfall to overcome the drought. WCNC
