  • The Angels of ’97 spaghetti dinner fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, March 21 — at North Mecklenburg High School. The event offers an all-you-can-eat meal, family activities, local auctions and entertainment to support community scholarships for local students.  Lake Norman Publications

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Sycamore Brewing will reopen this weekend (March 14) under new ownership. The brewery will serve its popular brews and invite local fans to enjoy new flavors.  WCNC

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local venues in Huntersville will host a multi-day St. Patrick's celebration from March 14 to 17 with green beer, live music, Irish food, and dancing. Attendees can enjoy festivities at spots like Birkdale Village (760 Craft Works) and Boatyard Lake Norman in nearby Cornelius.  Business Today NC

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Huntersville teen Richard 'Porter' Helms earned the Eagle Scout rank from Troop 19 on Nov. 20, 2025 and celebrated his achievement on March 1 at the Recreation Center flag pole area on Verhoeff Road. He led 20+ volunteers to install a paver wall + fresh mulch to improve the landscape.  Lake Norman Publications

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Mecklenburg County is launching a $6.2M project to restore Mallard Creek. The work will rebuild natural curves, restore native plants, and reduce flooding along the Mallard Creek Greenway in Charlotte to improve water quality and protect drinking sources.  WSOCTV.com
  • The local school district urged leaders to remove hazardous chemicals from the Silfab Solar site (located near community schools) to protect student safety. Officials will review the request soon.  WSOCTV.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A contractor accidentally damaged a low pressure pipe near Harbor Light Boulevard in Cornelius, causing about 100 gallons (estimated) of wastewater to spill into Lake Norman. Charlotte Water advises residents to follow proper disposal guidelines to help prevent future clogs.  WCNC

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • BDG Properties aims to rezone a one-acre lot on Glendale Drive to allow a four-lot subdivision for four 2,500 sqft homes priced from $500,000 to $600,000 — the town board will vote on the plan on April 21 while neighbors remain concerned about the increased density near downtown.  Lake Norman Publications
