  • Huntersville Happy Hour Rotary hosted its annual Men That Cook fundraiser and raised a record $40,000 for 15 local charities as 600 community members paid a $20 entry fee, with local food teams cooking for community organizations & judges from area restaurants awarding top prizes.   • Pottery Barn has chosen a vacant spot at 8709 Townley Drive in Huntersville and expects to open its new store at Birkdale Village this fall—making it neighbors with the Cheesecake Factory.   • Monroe High School teacher and coach Tomara ‘TJ’ Leverington—known as Coach Lev—came off a ventilator this month after fighting a severe case of pneumonia and has returned home.   • On March 25, the Huntersville Planning Board voted 4-3 to support Peak Development's Station South mixed-use project on a 21.3-acre site at 17220 Old Statesville Road — a key step in the rezoning process. The project is set to include 348 homes and 25,000 square feet of retail space and will be reviewed by the town’s board of commissioners on April 22 — with planning staff also backing the initiative alongside upcoming commuter rail plans.  WSOCTV.com
