  • N.C. Cooperative Extension, Mecklenburg County Center will host Love Your Local beginning Tuesday, April 22— a week-long event series featuring a kickoff dinner for local farmers, gardening demonstrations at the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market, brewery trivia nights, cooking demos, a guided farmers market shopping tour and a youth cook-off to promote local food and sustainability. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • One person died in a crash on I-77 Southbound just north of Griffith Street around 3:15 a.m. on Tuesday—troopers said the accident involved a tractor-trailer and a white vehicle while crews cleared the scene for traffic.  WSOCTV.com
  • Huntersville Police confirmed that former NASCAR team owner Shigeaki Hattori was killed when his vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a Lexus on NC 73 near McGuire Nuclear Station around 9:15 a.m. on April 5—officers said the other driver suffered minor injuries.  WCNC
