  • Biologists at the NC Wildlife Resources Commission said on April 14 that invasive Alabama bass are now in more local waters — including Lake Norman — and are outcompeting native largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass.   • Doctors say one bite from the lone star tick can cause alpha-gal syndrome — a red meat allergy that brings on hives, trouble breathing, and low blood pressure.
