Good morning, Huntersville.

Today, community events start with a Holocaust remembrance presentation at Davidson College at 7 pm and a seniors improv workshop in Cornelius at 10 am.

The week will also feature comedy shows, farmers markets, art crawls, cleanups, and concerts—offering residents in Davidson, Huntersville and Cornelius varied chances for local engagement through April 27.

A car overturned on Beatties Ford Road near Sample Road today and emergency personnel from the Huntersville Fire Department and Medic have responded near the Historic Hopewell Presbyterian Church Cemetery — drivers are advised to use McCoy Road as a detour.

One person died in a rollover crash Tuesday afternoon on Beatties Ford Road when a car crashed through a wall and flipped under trees—emergency crews directed traffic and closed part of the road.

On April 22, 2025, entrepreneur Mike Griffin from Cornelius was named a finalist for EY Entrepreneur of the Year in the Southeast region, joining 35 other nominees from North Carolina and other states.

He is a partner at Griffin Brothers Cos.—a firm that includes ZoomUp, which works with family companies to help them grow.

At the Town Board meeting on April 21, five residents urged the board to deny the Griffin family’s request to convert lakefront property into an event venue on Nantz Road — noting concerns over increased traffic from events.

The board also heard opposition to the Cashmere rezoning for a six-story condominium and approved annexing Mayes Road properties for the Mayes Meadows Project, with both proposals set for further review by the Planning Board in the coming months.
