- ➤ On April 5, vandals poured sugar into the gas tank of My Father’s Choice Ministries' van that helped 57 people get to appointments and receive food. Her teacher Mai-Lan Lewis was also honored at a recognition ceremony held May 5 at Charlotte Police and Fire Training Academy — an event that highlights the program’s goal to help students express their challenges. - ➤ A special community meeting for veterans will be held on May 8 from 6 pm to 7 pm at Huntersville Town Hall at 101 Huntersville-Concord Rd, where Mecklenburg county commissioner Arthur Griffin will present on veterans services & lead a discussion; residents are encouraged to register in advance because space is limited. - ➤ Residents on Nantz Road opposed the Sunset Cove rezoning proposal that would convert two lakefront single-family homes into an event venue and add a 6,000 square foot tent space near Ramsey Creek Park. They voiced concerns over parking and traffic at a Town Board Meeting on May 6 — the proposal is scheduled for a planning board hearing in June/July. Cornelius Today
- ➤ Town Manager Andrew Grant unveiled his $39.4 million fiscal year 2026 budget proposal on May 6—if approved, the tax rate will remain 17.31 cents per $100 assessed value so a home valued at $500,000 will pay about $865 in town taxes.
