  • On May 8, a Volunteer Fair ran from 1-5 p.m. at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Cornelius, sponsored by the Peninsula Community Foundation + featuring up to 20 local non-profit organizations, while a Fleetwood Mac tribute took place at LangTree Lake Norman from 6:30-9 p.m. Today, the Petty Rewind event at Cain Center for the Arts is sold out, and on May 10 a Canaan Cox concert at Cain Center for the Arts, another Fleetwood Mac tribute at Town Green in Davidson, and a Harry Potter movie screening at The Plaza in Birkdale Village will occur with first-come seating for the film.  Cornelius Today

  • A Huntersville man won a $1M lottery jackpot after buying a scratch-off ticket at Gas House on Hambright Road. He chose a lump sum payout of $600K and took home $430,508 after taxes when he visited lottery headquarters on Wednesday.  WCNC
  • Tourists spent more than $36.7 billion in 2024 on trips within North Carolina, a record that boosted the tourism-supported workforce to 230,338 jobs, Governor Josh Stein said.
