- ➤ Local leaders and regional officials are challenging Charlotte's request to nearly double its daily water withdrawal from the Catawba River Basin (currently 33 million to 63 million gallons) as the move may reduce water availability for local homes and businesses. Lake Norman Publications

- ➤ The Carolina Ascent is gearing up for a regular season match and another playoff run with a long unbeaten streak. Coach Darryl Poole (with defender Jill Aguilera) said the team focuses on teamwork and consistency as they prepare for a tough matchup with Jacksonville. WSOCTV.com
- ➤ Local seniors Tejas Sridhar from Lake Norman Charter and Jackson Grathwohl from Pine Lake Prep won the 4A and 3A singles state championships last weekend after winning all their matches without dropping a set. - ➤ High school girls flag football became a varsity sport earlier this week, giving athletes statewide new playing opportunities. The Carolina Panthers and The David + Nicole Tepper Foundation announced a $1 million boost for equipment, coaching support and program growth. WCNC
