COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Huntersville Happy Hour Rotary Club received a matching grant of $3,000 to help support Hope House, which gives temporary shelter to women facing hardship. Volunteers used the funds—buying water tables, a porch swing, and garden supplies to improve the old cottages.  Lake Norman Publications

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation received a ParkScore of 39.6 out of 100 from the Trust for Public Land for 2025, and the county said its low population density & limited pedestrian access contributed to the lower ranking. The department will refresh its master plan and work with community partners to improve park access in the coming years.  Mecklenburg County News

HEALTH NEWS

  • The American Red Cross is urging Huntersville donors to give blood this Memorial Day weekend to help treat accident victims as travel and outdoor activities increase. Local drives at the Huntersville Blood Donation Center (9800 Kincey Avenue, Suite 110) are scheduled from May 23 through early June and will offer rewards for donations made by May 31.  Cornelius Today
  • Mecklenburg County Public Health earned accreditation with honors from the North Carolina Local Health Department Accreditation Board after meeting all 147 required standards. County Commissioners announced the honor on May 20 and praised the department for its strong work in HIV care and health protection.  Mecklenburg County News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Birkdale Village was listed on May 21 for an undisclosed amount by Newmark less than a year after it was sold. Local broker Nick O’Shaughnessy said Huntersville-approved expansion entitlements may add around $25 million—$40 million to the property’s value and buyers must meet financial qualifications before a final price is set.  Business Today NC
