  • Memorial Day will mark the unofficial start of summer and as more Huntersville residents head to Lake Norman in the coming days, local boaters are advised to review key safety questions—critical for planning safe trips on the water.  WCNC
  • The Town of Huntersville and American Legion Post 321 will host the 24th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony at Veterans Park (201 Huntersville-Concord Rd.) on Monday, May 26 at 11 a.m., while in Cornelius, American Legion Post 86 and the town invite residents to honor local servicemen and women at Cain Center for the Arts (21348 Catawba Ave.) from 10 a.m. to noon; note that garbage and recycling pick-ups will be delayed on Monday.  Cornelius Today

  • Events this weekend show a mix of music and celebration—yesterday A Hero’s Homecoming with Tim Dugger at Cain Center and a live show by Trial By Fire at LangTree Lake Norman took place, and today Shelley Ruffin performs her Memphis tribute at Cain Center. Tomorrow a Led Zeppelin tribute concert at Lost Worlds Brewing in Cornelius and a Memorial Day fashion show at Historic Rural Hill in Huntersville will draw local fans.  Cornelius Today

  • First-term Commissioner Edwin Quarles will run for a second term after his first term helped launch Huntersville’s first Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration and a new Veterans Service Office at Town Hall.
