- ➤ Mecklenburg County residents are invited to join the third annual World Elder Abuse Awareness Walk on June 11 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Freedom Park in Charlotte — community leaders including Russ Ferguson will help raise awareness of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. - ➤ The Metropolitan Transit Commission voted May 29 to adopt a 30-year Transit System Plan that prioritizes the Better Bus program, microtransit, and rapid transit to Lake Norman.
