- ➤ North Carolina DMV leaders announced changes to reduce long wait times by opening 20 sites for Saturday walk-ins from 8 a.m. to noon starting May 31—Huntersville is one of these locations. - ➤ Pine Lake Prep won its first state championship in the 2A girls soccer tournament on Saturday with a 2-1 win over Franklin Academy. The team rebounded from a heartbreaking penalty kick loss last season and marked its redemption tour with key plays from coach Paul Ebenhoeh, captain Avery Garrett, and MVP Sadie Peterson — a milestone for the program.
