  • Homeowners in North Carolina will pay higher insurance rates on new policies as the Rate Bureau approved an average 7.5% increase—areas such as Charlotte may see an extra $213 per year while current policies remain unchanged until renewal.  WSOCTV.com

  • Eric Jones Jr., a South Meck graduate, played for the Savannah Bananas at Bank of America Stadium on Friday + will take the field again today.  Queen City News
  • Qi Han, the gymnastics coach at Everest Gymnastics in Cornelius and Huntersville, received a lifetime ban from the U.S. Center for SafeSport on Thursday after an investigation dating back to 2016 revealed emotional and physical misconduct including alleged abuse of Olympic alternate Ashton Locklear—his ban remains subject to appeal.  Queen City News
