- ➤ FeedNC is launching a Summer Hunger Food Drive from June 16 to June 21 to collect 15,000 lbs. of food and raise $15,000 as schools close and leave thousands of children at risk of hunger. The drive begins with a Summer Party on June 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2456 Charlotte Hwy.—Officials say the event will help boost support for local families facing food insecurity. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ CMPD announced three new K9 officers (Cam, Lucky, and Tuffy) who will begin their training soon. The department will use the dogs to support its community safety efforts. WCNC
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ North State Development is asking to rezone a 1.7-acre parcel on Gilead Road—next to 760 Craft Works—to build a four-story mixed-use building with 9,000 square feet of retail space and 55 apartments. The rezoning will be presented to the planning board on June 24 while a final town board vote is scheduled for July 15 following a public hearing held June 3. Lake Norman Publications
