- ➤ This week, local events give residents a full schedule starting with fitness classes today at Be Well Birkdale at The Plaza in Huntersville from 6—7 p.m., a 500—piece puzzle contest on June 25 at the Cain Center for the Arts in Cornelius, and fresh offerings at the North Meck Farmers Market. Later events include free summer concerts and family fun on Friday, a protest safety workshop plus a tribute concert on Saturday in Davidson, and a chamber orchestra performance, Euchre tournament and Broadway mash‐up play on Sunday that bring music and community together. - ➤ Troops from the 82nd Airborne Division tested the Infantry Squad Vehicle at Fort Bragg and it is now produced near Charlotte. The new vehicle—built in Mooresville by Hendrick Motorsports using many off-the-shelf parts—carries up to nine soldiers and has attracted interest from foreign buyers for future deliveries. - ➤ Mecklenburg County is operating cooling stations from June 23 to June 25 amid extreme heat, including at Huntersville’s David B. Waymer Recreation Center (one of several local sites) to provide relief to residents.
