ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • After a fire destroyed several apartments, the Red Cross assisted over two dozen displaced residents by offering emergency shelter+ basic supplies in the affected area.  WSOCTV.com

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local cultural events run from Thursday, July 10th through Sunday, July 13th with live music, outdoor movies, and art workshops set for venues in Mooresville, Huntersville, Cornelius, and Davidson—today's schedule features a live performance by Joseph Gallo at The Plaza. Residents are invited to bring chairs and blankets to enjoy a week of community entertainment.  Cornelius Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On July 10, MECK Pre-K registered more than 1,830 four-year-olds for next year, a record number since the program began in 2018. Parents can visit local centers (Kid City USA in Cornelius and Cadence Academy Preschool near Kenton Place) to apply in person.  Cornelius Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • In June, the Huntersville Town Board of Commissioners adopted the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget, which will fund public safety, infrastructure and community services. The budget has no tax increase—helping maintain the town’s low tax rate and stable fees while supporting new projects and staffing needs.  City of Huntersville

SPORTS NEWS

  • Two rising volleyball players from Lake Norman qualified for the USA Volleyball Beach National Championship—Carmen Markel of Mooresville and Harper Willis of Davidson will compete in the 12U Open Division in Virginia Beach from July 16 to 21.  Cornelius Today
