- ➤ On July 17, MECK Pre-K registered more than 1,830 children for next school year, setting a record for the free pre-K program for four-year-olds. The Board approved funding for 10 new classrooms to boost capacity + families can still enroll. Cornelius Today
- ➤ Bill Fountain, a retired Air Force officer and former teacher from Cornelius, filed his candidacy for the District 1 seat on the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools Board — which covers Cornelius, Huntersville, Davidson and parts of North Charlotte—against incumbent Melissa Easley among nine candidates. - ➤ Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden said his department continued to focus on protecting and defending all residents even as a House bill was proposed that would require deputies to work with ICE.
