  • Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department investigated a homicide from early Thursday morning on Reindeer Way Lane just south of Huntersville — the incident was first listed as an assault and saw a heavy police presence around 7 a.m.  WSOCTV.com

CULTURE NEWS

  • The weekender from Aug. 7-10 brings outdoor shows and art events for Huntersville residents—highlighting a teen production of Jesus Christ Superstar at Cain Center for the Arts and a Paint & Sip event today with supplies and instruction for $100. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is moving forward with four new projects in north Mecklenburg—three of which are in design and will open in fall 2028, while the Cornelius Elementary replacement is planned for fall 2030 pending funding. These projects aim to update North Mecklenburg High School, Huntersville Elementary, and add a new middle school to address growing enrollment.  Lake Norman Publications

  • Huntersville’s Planning Department is developing a Safety Action Plan — using crash data and community input — to identify road corridors and intersections for improvement.
