Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department investigated a homicide from early Thursday morning on Reindeer Way Lane just south of Huntersville — the incident was first listed as an assault and saw a heavy police presence around 7 a.m.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is moving forward with four new projects in north Mecklenburg—three of which are in design and will open in fall 2028, while the Cornelius Elementary replacement is planned for fall 2030 pending funding.

These projects aim to update North Mecklenburg High School, Huntersville Elementary, and add a new middle school to address growing enrollment.

Huntersville’s Planning Department is developing a Safety Action Plan — using crash data and community input — to identify road corridors and intersections for improvement.

The plan, which is funded by a grant awarded in fall 2024, aims to help the town reach its Vision Zero goal.
