COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Carolina Renaissance Festival will host a job fair on September 6 at the festival fairgrounds in Huntersville to hire 350 seasonal employees from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—job seekers must bring work eligibility documents and will earn between $14 and $18 per hour while enjoying free festival admission.  WSOCTV.com

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A motorcycle accident on I-85 ramp near mile marker 48 on August 21 left one man dead—NC State Highway Patrol confirmed no other vehicles were involved and that the ramp reopened just after 10 a.m.  Queen City News

  • The Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Business Expo on Tuesday, Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Huntersville Recreation Center. Over 120 local businesses and nearly 2,000 visitors will attend—offering key networking opportunities.  Business Today NC

  • Last night Huntersville held LaLaCaboosa — a downtown music series at Veterans Park with live music and food vendors — and today The Plaza at Birkdale Village hosts Live Under the Oaks while BoatYard Lake Norman in Cornelius runs a 24K Magic tribute event; the weekend continues on Saturday with a free WNC Bigfoot Festival and concerts by The Verve Pipe and The Reflex, and Sunday closes with Grooving in the Grove and a Lucky Cat Fête at historic Cedar Grove.  Cornelius Today

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On August 20, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools updated its cell phone policy in line with a new state law that restricts personal devices during class—students must store devices in assigned boxes and use them only at approved times like before school, after school, at lunch, and between classes.  Cornelius Today

  • Today, Mecklenburg County Public Health officials warned pregnant women about a nationwide shortage of Bicillin L-A— a critical drug for treating infections in expectant mothers and protecting newborns.  WCNC

  • The Lake Norman Charter Knights joined the Catawba Shores league after four years playing as independents+ head coach Montroy said the team is set to fight for the conference title.
