- ➤ This weekend, locals have many options with today’s Live Under the Oaks at The Plaza in Huntersville, Carolina Ascent FC hosting their home opener on Sept. 6 at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte with Base Camp Bash festivities starting at 2:30 p.m., and a Learn Music Legends Block Party on Sept. 7 at Primal Brewery offering live music and local food — all providing diverse community fun. BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ On Sept. 4, Lake Norman-area breweries took part in the NC Brewers Cup competition that received 935 entries from 123 breweries statewide. Royal Bliss Brewing from Denver won the only gold while Huntersville winners Primal Brewery, 760 Craft Works and Neoteric Brewing earned silver and bronze awards—demonstrating strong local craft beer talent. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Sept. 4, Lakeside Charter Academy in Cornelius announced significant academic growth for the 2024–2025 school year as reading improved by 25% and math by 18%, raising its grade from an F to a C and removing it from the state’s list of low-performing schools—NC Education Superintendent Mo Green recognized the turnaround at a Board meeting.
