SPORTS NEWS

  • Christ the King scored early and often in their first home game this season in Huntersville — building a 27-0 lead by the end of the first quarter before cruising to a 61-22 win over the South Carolina Spartans.  Lake Norman Publications
  • On Sept. 6, the Huskies won a football game in Richmond to start the season 3-0 as senior kicker Piercion Selland opened the scoring and quarterback Ethan Royal threw a long touchdown pass. The team will face Mooresville in their home opener at 7 p.m. at Hough High School—coach noted their strong defense was key—despite numerous penalties during the game.  Cornelius Today
  • The Panthers lost 26 to 10 to the Jaguars in their season opener on Sunday. Coach Dave Canales said the team did not play up to their standard because of turnovers and defensive mistakes and must fix these issues before facing the Cardinals in Arizona next week.  WCNC
