- ➤ On Sept. 6, community leaders in Pottstown met to decide on strategies to protect the neighborhood from rising costs and displacement while preserving its cultural identity. The Pottstown Preservation Plan—featuring proposals like zoning overlays and community programs—will be presented at a town board public hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 7 and posted online thereafter. - ➤ Huntersville Rosenwald School #2, known as the Little School, will celebrate its 100-year anniversary on Saturday, Sept.20 at 508 Dellwood Drive—community partners will host alumni panels, a documentary preview and the unveiling of a historical marker to honor its legacy. - ➤ Governor Josh Stein announced on Thursday that three new TV shows and four films are filming in the Charlotte region, including Top Chef season 23 + Bad Counselors. The productions are expected to create over 3,800 jobs and bring more than $131 million in economic activity. WSOCTV.com
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Dr. Ryan Shelton from Tryon Medical Partners explained the new CDC guidance which advises most adults to get the updated COVID vaccine and everyone 6 months and older to receive a flu shot with shots recommended between late September and early October. He urged those traveling or in close contact with high-risk individuals to consult their doctor — the guidance is meant to help protect local health as flu season approaches. WCNC

- ➤ On Sept. 11, Peninsula Prime introduced a special dining experience for guests with sensory sensitivities—offering free kits with earplugs, a stress ball, a puppet and a fidget spinner.
