COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Chabad of Lake Norman will host a free community meal and holiday services as part of their Rosh Hashanah events beginning Monday, Sept 22. The events include a meal at 7:30 p.m., services at 6:30 p.m. on Monday and 10 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, and a Shofar Family Experience on Sept 23 at 5 p.m.—all open to the public without membership. - ➤ On Thursday, Sept. 18, a silent auction supporting veterans and a BBQ with jazz and bourbon tasting were held at Peninsula Prime and Cain Center for the Arts. Today, live music events in Huntersville and at BoatYard Lake Norman are underway, and Saturday and Sunday will feature community events such as a Hough lacrosse car wash, Oktoberfest, and festivals at St. Alban’s and Rock the Lake 2 — offering fun for all ages. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Earlier this week, Mecklenburg County co-hosted a conference on the opioid crisis that brought together over 200 public health and justice experts. The county will soon launch three new initiatives using settlement funds—Medication-Assisted Treatment in detention, a Post-Overdose Response Team, and a reentry program to connect returning citizens with care.
