- ➤ The Carolina Renaissance Festival returns to Huntersville on Saturdays and Sundays from today through Nov. 23 — providing a weekend event full of historical fun. WCNC
- ➤ Carrigan Farms is now Scarrigan Farms—a haunted trail on a 275-acre farm open to visitors 12 and older—that began on Oct. 3 and runs through Nov. 1; advanced reservations are required with a 15-minute early arrival and tickets ranging from $30 to $50, while VIP options cost up to $65. - ➤ Multiple parents reported that CMS students were dropped off at the wrong bus stop and they are urging school officials to review bus routes to prevent future errors—officials said they will examine the situation closely. WCNC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Mecklenburg Sheriff's Office is launching a new training program for detention officers—cadets will undergo a 23-week course to become deputies. WCNC
- ➤ Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden said Governor Josh Stein's signing of Iryna's Law—in response to a fatal stabbing—fails to strengthen mental health services in courts and detention and adds strain on local law enforcement. He urged lawmakers to include prevention and intervention measures to improve community safety. WCNC
- ➤ CATS is launching new security upgrades to better enforce fare rules — Interim CEO Brent Cagle said he is considering adding civilian ticket-checkers to help improve operations. Queen City News
