  • Residents in Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson will celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, Oct. 7 by connecting with local police through family games, food and activities. Huntersville will host its free event from 5 to 8 p.m. at Huntersville Athletic Park—after Cornelius rescheduled its celebration due to rain.  Lake Norman Publications
  • At Northstone Country Club in Huntersville, the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce honored John Foster of Foster’s Frame and Art Gallery as the 2025 Diversity Champion for his work promoting inclusion and support for local shelters—an accolade presented by Chamber leaders including Brian Sisson and April Patterson.   • Antwain Nance was certified by the North Carolina Department of Justice as eligible to run for Mecklenburg County Sheriff in the 2026 election—he meets all legal requirements and will file his Notice of Candidacy with the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections from Dec. 1 to Dec. 19.  WSOCTV.com
  • Mecklenburg County Health Officials said the WIC program has two weeks of nutrition funding during the government shutdown—this program gives free healthy foods to low-income pregnant women, new moms and children under five. Officials said they will keep sharing updates until more funding comes in.  WSOCTV.com
