- ➤ Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ School Choice lottery is open for applications from Oct. 13 to Dec. 5—families can choose up to three magnet or specialized program options divided by socioeconomic categories. Families must register to get a student ID and can attend open houses and info sessions—lottery results will be released a few weeks after the application period closes. WCNC
