➤ Birkdale Village in Huntersville has a new owner as Houston-based Hines acquired the 673,000-square-foot mixed-use center from Nuveen and Jamestown after its rezoning in March— the firm said it will upgrade the office and residential areas. WSOCTV.com

➤ On Oct. 25, Hough senior Devin Gilroy won the girls state tennis title at the Millbrook Exchange Center in Raleigh by beating Shreyal Uniyal 6-3, 6-1—she dropped only seven games in three matches. Ranked sixth in singles and returning from Spain training, she plans to attend Emory University next fall. Cornelius Today
➤ The Lake Norman Wildcats defeated Davie County 23-10 on Oct. 24 to secure a second-place finish in league play, with key plays from Kaden Craft, Jayden Nordtveit, and Doc Caldwell. Lake Norman will host Mooresville on Halloween in a conference championship game. Lake Norman Publications
