ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Pacific Life Insurance Co. selected Mecklenburg County for its new East Coast hub that will create 301 jobs over the next five years, with the company leasing temporary office space while planning to move into a new Charlotte’s South End facility in 2028—this $12.3 million investment will support roles in actuarial, finance, technology and human resources, including positions that do not require a college degree— as part of its expansion strategy. The decision followed a competitive search and reflects local efforts to attract major employers and high-quality, well-paying jobs. Mecklenburg County News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Mecklenburg County’s Crisis Intervention Team Program was awarded Platinum Certification by CIT International for meeting best practices in crisis response. Health Director Dr. Raynard Washington said the program has built strong partnerships over 18 years with law enforcement—mental health providers and community members. Mecklenburg County News
- ➤ Officials with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools said Tuesday that a case of pulmonary tuberculosis was identified at North Mecklenburg High School. The district is working with CMS School Health and the Mecklenburg County Health Department to notify families of TB symptoms—such as cough, fever, night sweats, weight loss, and chest pain. - ➤ The top-seeded Knights of Lake Norman Charter defeated No. 5 Ashe County 3-0 on Oct.25 with scores of 25-19, 25-15, and 25-16 to advance to the 4A West regional championship — they hosted South Rowan on Oct.28 and set up a state finals match on Oct.31.
