  • Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools are rolling out a new AI policy that lets the superintendent set rules for safe and proper use of AI in classrooms. The framework requires that AI act as a helper and that student data be approved by the superintendent—ensuring the tools follow federal privacy laws.  WSOCTV.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • NC State professor Sarah Bowen warned that if SNAP benefits are suspended on November 1, many families may face financial hardships—local food assistance programs could see increased demand for support.  WCNC

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A housing study released Oct. 29 by UNC Charlotte’s Childress Klein Center for Real Estate showed that Charlotte’s metro area grew by nearly 3% from 2023 to 2024 — about 78,255 people — which worsened the region's affordable housing shortage.  WSOCTV.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • Hough finished a 10-0 regular season with a 56-0 win over Hopewell at Hough High School on Oct. 30, scoring 21 points in the first quarter despite early penalties. The team now awaits playoff seeding on Monday as coach DeShawn Baker said they will take each game one at a time.  Cornelius Today
