- ➤ Mooresville Arts announced that its 43rd annual Artoberfest Judged Show & Competition is on display in the Mooresville Arts Gallery through Nov. 13—featuring 134 entries from 76 artists including Huntersville's Carleen Davis, whose winning collage 'Salon of Four-Kahlo' is for sale to benefit local artists and the nonprofit gallery. - ➤ More than 138,500 Mecklenburg County residents rely on SNAP benefits as county officials say a government shutdown has increased the need for food help—donations are accepted by texting STUFFTHETRUCK to 50155 or by dropping off non-perishable items at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. WCNC
- ➤ The FAA will cut flights at 40 major airports—Charlotte Douglas included—as cancellation rates will rise from 4% tomorrow to 10% next week. WCNC
- ➤ The FAA said flights at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport will be cut by 10% because of the ongoing government shutdown — officials expect the change to affect travelers soon. Queen City News
