CULTURE NEWS

  • HEARTS Winter Wisdom 2025 will take place on Dec. 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Cedar Grove where guest storytellers including Ramona Big Eagle will share Cherokee winter wisdom along with live music by the Mike Strauss Trio and dance performances by Moving Spirits. A festive pop-up market supporting the Hugh Torance House and Store and a new art exhibit will also add to the event — offering a blend of storytelling, art and music for the community.  Lake Norman Publications

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers face long delays on I—77 near Lake Norman during peak hours as cars travel at 28 miles per hour amid heavy congestion, with the stretch ranked 36th nationally by a transportation study. Local leaders are proposing changes like hard shoulder running and extended on-off ramps to ease the bottlenecks, though funding remains a challenge.  WSOCTV.com
  • Air travel at CLT airport is resuming after a monthlong government shutdown canceled many flights — American Airlines officials answered questions about the delays.  WCNC
  • NC By Train had its highest ridership month in 35 years this October, carrying 74,400 passengers—an almost 10% increase from October last year—and a 4% rise in year-to-date numbers from January to October, officials reported. The state-run service will adjust its schedules for Carolina Panthers games on Nov. 30 and Dec. 21 as it aims to break its record again.  WSOCTV.com

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano made a dramatic entrance at the November 17 groundbreaking for Town1 on Huntersville’s south side by launching his Factory Five Ford Raptor nearly 150 feet into the air. The $340 million mixed-use development — including housing, offices and retail space — will begin vertical construction early next year with major parts expected to finish by 2028.  Lake Norman Publications

  • Charlotte Soccer Academy will host a Turkey Bowl on Thanksgiving Day from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the OrthoCarolina Sportplex in Pineville—aiming to collect 3,000 new, unwrapped toys for families in need as part of the Salvation Army’s Magical Toy Drive.  WCNC
