- ➤ On Dec. 24, Mecklenburg County reminded residents to drop off approved holiday waste at the North Mecklenburg Disposal and Recycling Center at 12300 Statesville Road in Huntersville + accepted items included natural trees without decorations, plain wrapping, food scraps and textiles while decorative items, batteries and glitter were not accepted. - ➤ On Dec. 24, the Peninsula Community Foundation raised over $450,000 and donated $430,000 to nonprofits in the Lake Norman area. Nearly $50,000 were earmarked in honor of board president George Searle (who died in October), underscoring the foundation's commitment to local causes. Cornelius Today
