- ➤ A new park near Huntersville Fire Station No. 4 on McIlwaine Road was named First Responders Park to honor all first responders after suggestions by Fire Chief Jim Dotoli—its design includes a splash pad, pickleball courts, playground, open lawn and themed trails. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The State Highway Patrol will start a safety campaign—called Interstate-485 Alive—to make I-485 safer after a deadly crash, and officials will add more patrols to help prevent future accidents. WCNC

- ➤ CMS introduced an online guide—'Top 10 Things To Know'—that gives families key details to get ready for back-to-school and will be available online for all district members. WCNC

- ➤ Ramsey Creek Beach reopened at noon yesterday after a weekend closure caused by heavy rainfall raising bacteria levels—county retesting this morning and Monday's tests confirmed the water was safe for public use. Cornelius Today

- ➤ Jonathan Thomas was named chief of the CMSPD at a CMS board meeting on August 13—he retired from CMPD this summer and will be sworn in next week to replace former chief Lisa Mangum, who retired last school year. WSOCTV.com
